Notice of Public Hearing

Pennsville Township Middle School Pedestrian Safety &

Traffic Calming Project

Township of Pennsville, Salem County, New Jersey

The Township of Pennsville will hold a Public Hearing (during the Township Committee Meeting) on May 16th, at 6:30 p.m., in the Township Committee Chambers of City Hall, 90 N Broadway, Pennsville, NJ 08070.

The purpose of this hearing is as follows:  (1) review the scope of work for the proposed project (2) to receive citizen comments and recommendations.

The Safe Routes to School program was created to encourage children, including those with disabilities, to walk and bike to school.  The goal is to make bicycling and walking to school a safer and more appealing transportation alternative, thereby encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age; and to implement projects that will improve safety, and reduce traffic, fuel consumption, and air pollution in the vicinity of schools.

The Township received a grant for the 2022 Safe Routes to School Program to construct improvements along William Penn Avenue.

At the information session, construction plans will be available for the public review.  In addition, members of Sickels & Associates, Inc., will be present to review the proposed improvements and answer any questions pertaining to this project.

All residents are encouraged to attend and offer comments at the public hearing or by writing to the Township of Pennsville, 90 N Broadway, Pennsville, NJ 08070, Attention:  Mayor Daniel J. Neu, within ten (10) days following the public hearing.
